RaceNation Sport &
Active Living Awards

Tickets are now on sale for Jersey Sport’s inaugural RaceNation Sport and Active Living Awards.

The exciting new event will see nine new awards be presented on the night, while a series of local sporting legends from years gone by will become the first to be inducted into the Jersey Sport “Hall of Fame”.

Venue: The Royal Yacht

Date: Thursday 8th November 2018 (6.30pm)

Dress Code: Smart Casual. Guests are encouraged to wear something to represent their team or favourite club’s colours.

The nominations period opened at 08:00 on Wednesday 12th September, and closed at 23.59 on Monday 8th of October.

All nominations must relate to activity between 16th June 2017 and 31st July 2018.

Under-18s: £45

Ticket-holders will be treated to a drinks reception on arrival, a brilliant two course dinner from the Royal Yacht’s chefs along with petits-fours and coffee, on what we hope will become one of the standout occasions in the island’s sporting calendar.


Award Categories

1.       Accuro Fiduciary Sporting Performance of the Year
Criteria: This award will be presented for an outstanding performance or series of performances from an individual or team.
Who can nominate: Anyone (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual)
2.       Aztec Group Sporting Performance of the Year (Under 21s)
Criteria: This award will be presented for an outstanding performance or series of performances from an individual or team. The winner(s) must have been under 21 years old at the time of their performance(s).
Who can nominate: Anyone (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual)
3.       Sports Organisation of the Year
Criteria: This award will be presented to a club, association or sporting body which has demonstrated a commitment to good governance, and excelled in all, one or more of the following areas:

  • Grassroots sport
  • Club sport
  • Performance sport
Who can nominate: Clubs, associations and sporting bodies may self-nominate, or be nominated by parents with a connection to the organisation, or by a member of the club, association or sporting body. (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual or organisation)
4.       Manager or Coach of the Year
Criteria: This award will be presented to a manager or coach who has demonstrated all, one or more of the following attributes:

  • Is a good role model
  • Develops players
  • Operates within the spirit of sport and encourages others to do the same through good sportsmanship
  • Has the respect of players and officials
  • Has strong communication and leadership skills
  • Has shown a commitment towards improving their sport
  • Has made a significant contribution to an outstanding performance or series of performances
Who can nominate: Clubs, associations, parents, members, players or others who can demonstrate a connection to the nominee. Club or association committees should coordinate and agree their nomination to avoid duplicate or contrasting submissions (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual or organisation)
5.       Volunteer of the Year
Criteria: This award will be presented to a non-coaching or non-managing volunteer for an outstanding contribution to sport or active living.
Who can nominate: Clubs, associations, parents, members, players or others who can demonstrate a connection to the nominee. Club or association committees should coordinate and agree their nomination to avoid duplicate or contrasting submissions (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual or organisation)
6.       C.I. Travel Group Active School Award 
Criteria: This award will be presented to a Jersey school (primary or secondary) for an outstanding example of encouraging participation in sport or physical activity within the school.
Who can nominate: Head teachers, pupils or parents may put their school forward.
7.       Hand Picked Hotels Active Workplace Award
Criteria: This award will be presented to a Jersey workplace for an outstanding example of encouraging participation in sport or physical activity within the workplace.
Who can nominate: Employers or Employees
8.       Active Living Group of the Year Award
Criteria: This award will be presented to a group, organisation or “movement” which has brilliantly inspired or promoted active living
Who can nominate: Anyone (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual)
9.       Lifetime Achievement Award
Criteria: This award will be presented to someone who has dedicated a significant period of time to sport or active living, either through playing, coaching, officiating, volunteering, promoting or working in sport or active living.
Who can nominate: Anyone (max of one nomination in this category from any one individual)
10.   Jersey Sport Hall of Fame
Criteria: In 2018 the first 5 (approximately) Jersey sporting legends will be inducted into the Jersey Sport Hall of Fame. Inductees into this prestigious group will have performed on the national or world stage, or will have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to island sport. Entrants into the Jersey Sport Hall of Fame must no longer be active in professional sport.
Who can nominate: Anyone

Judging Panel

The judging panel will be made up of the following personnel:

  1. Chairman of Jersey Sport
  2. Two Jersey Sport board members
  3. CEO of Jersey Sport
  4. Marketing and Communications Officer of Jersey Sport
  5. President of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey
  6. Chairman of the Island Games Association of Jersey
  7. Media partner representative
