Move More Community Coach (Holiday Programme – Sessional Contract)

Job Details

Jersey Sport provide opportunities for children to be active in the school holidays by providing fun and active camps across the island. If successful, you will be part of an enthusiastic and dedicated team, with the responsibility of delivering fun, engaging and developmental sessions within our holiday camp programme. You will also have opportunities to learn and develop your coaching skills through CPD opportunities and continued coach development from the Children’s Programmes Officer.

Move More Community Coaches will plan and deliver these camps in conjunction with the Children’s Community Programmes Officer. As part of the team you will be responsible for delivering sessions within the holiday camps and ensuring all participants enjoy their experience of sports and activities. You will undertake a wide range of planning and delivery aligned to the Jersey Sport objectives to increase physical activity levels and physical literacy of children. You will ensure organisational standards are maintained, including health and safety and safeguarding procedures. You will also work with the Jersey Sport team to regularly review and improve the programme.

 

As well as being able to demonstrate the core behaviours of the organisation and the specialist competences required of the role there are a number of specific tasks that will be routinely required of the post holder.  In addition, the post holder is required to carry out any task necessary to ensure we continually deliver exceptional service to our customers.  The job specific tasks are detailed below.

 

·         Working across Move More Children’s Community Programmes delivering sessions to a professional standard.

·         Plan and deliver high-quality physical activities for the Move More programmes with the overarching aim of enabling and encouraging social engagement, behavioural change, physical activity and fun throughout the sessions.  All programmes should be in line with national and organisational guidelines to promote ongoing participation of islanders in active living programmes.

·         Plan and deliver high quality coaching in conjunction with the Children’s Community Programme’s Officer.

·         Ensure compliance with all required Jersey Sport Policies, including health and safety, safeguarding and risk management. You must ensure that risk assessments are followed and amended as required for any of the activities you are delivering.

·         Ensure effective communication with all members of the delivery team and relevant stakeholders to ensure the success of the programmes.

·         Attend individual and team meetings as and when required both internal and external to the organisation as requested.

·         To be responsible for the safety of participants by maintaining and making appropriate checks of facilities, equipment, and activities.

·         Work within any area of Move More as requested by the wider team
