Move More Physical Literacy Coach

We’re looking for a Move More Physical Literacy Coach to provide high quality sport and physical activity opportunities within Government of Jersey Primary Schools and our Holiday Community programme. 

Jersey Sport’s Move More Physical Literacy and Schools programme aims to provide a high quality and quantity of sport and physical activity before school, after school and predominantly during Physical Education (PE) lessons within Government of Jersey Primary Schools.

Through the medium of physical literacy, this programme will aim to deliver holistic PE which will cover a diverse and engaging curriculum, in line with the National Curriculum for Physical Education (NCPE) to meet the needs of the school. This coach will be responsible for planning, alongside the schools PE lead, and delivering high quality physical literacy-based sessions, in accordance with the needs of the organisation and school. This individual will also be responsible for collecting data related to their delivery and the department’s KPIs.

Outside of term time, the Move More Physical Literacy Coach will be a key figure in the organisation’s delivery of our Holiday Community programme. Within this programme, the coach will be expected to deliver fun and engaging sessions across a range of sports as part of a wider delivery team. This programme may also present line management opportunities of the season staff for the successful coach.

Skills You Will Bring

  • Experience in the coaching of children and young people, preferably with experience of delivering with an education environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with a variety of stakeholders from children to teachers and parents.
  • Experience in planning and delivering outcome-focused sessions aimed at improving all participants, regardless of ability.
  • Experience in working independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to understand and demonstrate safe working practices in a variety of settings.
  • A national governing body sporting qualification in sport at a minimum of Level 2 standard and / or a sport coaching-based degree.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the National Curriculum for Physical Education and / or an institutionally recognised Physical Literacy qualification from a reputable source such as IPLA.
  • An up-to-date Child Protection certificate and First Aid Certificate.
