Emma Sterry

School Swimming Coach

BACKGROUND: Growing up in Jersey, Emma enjoyed a variety of sports as a junior, representing the island at hockey, tennis and netball. On completion of her UK-based studies, Emma initially lectured Sport Science at Exeter University before working in Disaster Management for several years in Sudan, Liberia, Kosovo, Serbia and Iraq. Having spent time as a youth worker, and as a family worker in her local church, Emma has returned to her sporting roots in teaching on the Jersey Sport School Swimming Programme.

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS: A lot of Emma’s spare time is spent helping her three kids engage in their various sports. Recently, Emma has enjoyed learning table tennis and she is frequently in the gym rebuilding her fitness. She also helps out frequently at Tigers Swimming Club.

QUALIFICATIONS: Emma graduated from Chester University with a first class BSc in Sport and Exercise Science before gaining distinction at Exeter University for a MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology. A level one gymnastics coach and a level two swimming teacher, Emma also holds her NPLQ pool lifeguard qualification.
