Background: Jean is a self-employed business consultant with thirty years’ experience in the finance industry. She is a member of the Youth Panel, and is also a Governor at Le Rocquier School. Jean has recently stood down as President of the Jersey Badminton Association, but remains on the NatWest Island Games technical committee for badminton.
Interests: Jean was born in Jersey, and comes from a sporting family. She has been involved in sport, either as a competitor or spectator, for as long as she can remember. She has represented Jersey in five different sports at inter-island and county level. She specialised in badminton and competed in the first two Island Games. Whilst Jean still plays badminton socially, her involvement in local sport continues as a volunteer. She is a supporter of her daughter in badminton and her son who plays with the learning disability football and bowling teams.
‘I am very excited about the future of sport in Jersey. Sport provides so many opportunities and benefits for all age groups and abilities, and if we can build on our strong foundations then we can fulfil our potential as a truly active and inclusive island’. Jean Cross
